There are two different types of newborn photography – posed and lifestyle. Both are beautiful, there is no wrong option! It completely depends on what you love! Posed photography is typically done in a studio with fun props and beautiful wraps, and there are many photographers who have spent their careers learning how to pose, light, comfort, and soothe newborns to create truly stunning photos. It is a field that we admire so much, and while it is not the direction we have taken our business, we have so much respect for those photographers! They are artists!
We have chosen lifestyle photography, because it fit naturally into our brand. Whoever we are shooting, whether it be a bride & groom, senior, or family, we always go to great lengths to make sure the photos look natural and not overly posed. We ask our clients to look at each other, walk, tickle, and tell jokes – whatever it takes to get those relaxed, natural poses. As such, lifestyle newborn photography fits perfectly into that brand. These sessions are done in your home within the the first few days of the baby’s birth, and we capture your family in your home. We do several posed shots, of course, but we’ll also catch the cuddle after the diaper change, or the big sister showing the card she made for her new brother.
Skip & Jamie welcomed us into their home to meet baby Capton, and he was absolute perfection. Their home was filled with natural light, which is our dream! We loved watching his big sisters hold him so carefully and give lots of kisses. I grew up with Jamie, and it’s so fun to be in this new stage of motherhood together!
